Welcome to the Kansas City Area Police Activity mapping project!

Introduction

Have you ever wondered how crime is distributed around Kansas City? Are some neighborhoods safer than others? Where are you more likely to have your car broken into?

To help answer such questions, I decided to make maps of police blotters the Kansas City Star publishes.

Here's what Greg Reeves of Crime Scene KC says about this site:

This site is your one-stop resource for crime maps of Kansas City and Overland Park offenses. The data comes from police departments in those cities, as provided to the Kansas City Star's Crime Scene KC and other media.

What You'll Find Here

There are daily maps of Overland Park offenses; weekly maps of Overland Park sex-, drug- and alcohol-related arrests; weekly maps of Kansas City offenses; and maps of Kansas City homicides by year, 1995 through 2005.

How to View the Maps

To look at a police blotter or other map, just select it from the drop-down list above. You can find a dedicated page for Kansas City, MO homicides here.
